I was at my monthly scrapbook night last night and we got to talking about our blogs. I read through my friend Jena's blog and it made me miss my own and the outlet it gave me to just write about WHATEVER! The kids are getting so big, especially the boys. I guess they are technically ALL getting so big, but with the boys it seems more apparent because Evan is leaving his baby stage and moving into toddlerhood, and Hayden is just getting more mature. Things like the tooth fairy and {do I dare say it...} SANTA don't quite hold the same magic for him as they once did. I can see him starting to figure things out, while I love that he's getting bigger, it still breaks my heart! I can see the questions about the birds and the bee's coming in the next year or so, and I am SO dreading it! Let's just hope I make it through THAT conversation! haha.
Anyway, let's see...what else is there to write about.... Evan had his six month check up for his heart and everything looked perfect! Thank goodness for GOOD news on that front! He didn't have any narrowing of scar tissue at the surgical site, which is what they were looking for. He does however still have a much lower resting heart rate that he did pre-surgery, but it isn't too concerning since everything else checked out good. His cardiologist said he doesn't need to come back in for another 18 months! While we were ecstatic to hear the news, 18 months seems like SO long! This whole surgery thing has really taken a tole on my mental state of mind. I always joke that Evan is doing great but Obee and I are still recovering! I really think that's true though. Can a mom go through something like this and really heal from it as quickly as he did post op? I don't know... Maybe I'm just a nutcase, but I have so much anxiety about everything now, that has to do with the kids and their health....especially Evan's! When I see pictures of kids in the hospital, my heart starts to pound really fast and I get this metallic taste in my mouth remembering when Evan was there. One of my best friends will be having a baby at that hospital (get this, her due date is Evan's birthday AND the one year reunion date of his open heart surgery) and I am already scared thinking of entering that hospital! Of course, there is NO way that will stop me from going to meet her baby when she's born, but I still feel panicky about it. I guess I could go on forever about this...and maybe that's what I need, some therapy or something! LOL
Anyway, life is pretty busy this month and I'm definitely ready for the summer to begin! Somehow the idea of waking up when we want, not worrying about homework, and going for walks to the pool just sounds like a lot of fun right now. May is always crammed with a million different functions and I'm ready for the lack of responsibility in June!
