Special Day With My Girls

Today I decided to spend the day doing something fun with my girls! The Health and Safety Faire that is put on by the Placer County Office of Education every year was going on at the park. We've been to it every year since they started doing it and it's a lot of fun stuff for preschoolers to do. They had a fun train ride, Fire Engines, the CHP Helicopter (Hayden and Grampa would be so jealous), bubbles, free snacks, entertainment and crafts galore! All of this is put on for the community and is absolutely FREE! The girls had a great time and we met up with Samantha, Sara, Alis and their kids to enjoy the morning with as well. After that, we spent the rest of the early afternoon at Gramma's house, then headed over to Hayden's school to watch the kids tie dye their "field trip shirts." It was a very tiring, HOT day, but fun to say the least. We ended the day with Hayden losing his other loose tooth!

Big News At Our House!

HAYDEN LOST HIS FIRST TOOTH! Yes, Tuesday morning was a very exciting morning at our house! Hayden has had two very wiggly teeth on the bottom for the last week or so. You could actually see the new tooth growing in behind the loose one. We had been playing with the tooth trying to loosen it up for the past couple of days, to no avail. Finally Tuesday morning while we were getting ready for school, Hayden came running up the stairs SO excited that he had lost his tooth. He made all the necessary calls to daddy, gramma, and grampa to let everyone know, and made a special request for a "tooth party" when he got home from school that day. Unfortunately, amongst all of the excitement, Hayden literally LOST his tooth! He assured me that the tooth fairy wouldn't mind as long as we let her know what happened and didn't try to fake her out by putting a fake tooth in the pillow! We still haven't found the tooth!
Since he requested that we throw him a tooth party, I wanted to make the day extra special for him. I spent the day making him a special tooth pillow to put his tooth in that night, and making him a special crown to wear to initiate him into the "missing tooth club". He thought it was all very cool! That night we read for the hundredth time this week, "Moose's Loose Tooth", and he was very happy in the morning to see the Tooth Fairy had left him one very shiny silver dollar and four quarters. He woke me up the next day to tell me all about how he had heard the tooth fairy talking to her helper that night!
Ellie wanted to show me all of her "unloose" teeth too, so here she is posing for her photo op.

Halloween Is Just Around The Corner

As the title says, Halloween IS just around the corner and I cannot believe how quickly it seems to be coming! I've finally decided on what the kids will be this year and am on the search for a cupcake costume pattern or a link to where I can buy a super cute one online. If you know of where I can find either of these, PLEASE email me or put the link to it in the comments on the blog!
HAYDEN has decided to be spiderman once again, which isn't my choice of things I would like him to be (there are much cuter things out there in my opinion), but he insists on it and I wouldn't want to ruin his Halloween by making him where a costume he's not excited about. His spiderman costume from last year has had its share of use playing dress up, and the zipper is shot. I lucked out a couple of weeks ago and found him another one that is like new that he can wear though.

ELLIE has been obsessed with the book pinkalicious for the last few months, so what better for her to be than PINKALICIOUS herself! Pinkalicious is a super cute story about a little girl who insists on eating more and more of the pink cupcakes that her and her mom made on a rainy day. The more she eats, the more pink she becomes. Finally she's so pink that she turns red, which she isn't as pleased with, so she has to eat all green stuff to turn back to normal. The little girl in the book, kind of looks like Ellie anyway so it'll be cute. I couldn't think of what to do for Jordyn's costume to coordinate the girls at least and my mom came up with the best idea!

JORDYN will be a big pink cupcake! Now we just have to find a costume or pattern for it!

Homework

Hayden has been doing so good the last couple of weeks about coming home and getting his "Homefun" done right away. "Homefun" is his teacher's word for Homework. He usually has about 2-3 pages of homework each night, mostly math stuff, and now he has to do a reading log of reading 20 minutes each night. The reading part won't be a problem for us, since we read every night before bed anyway, but somehow it feels like I'm being babysat having to write down every book that we read and for how long we did it! Oh well, I REALLY love his teacher this year so I'm not complaining. She's great. She has emailed us EVERY night since he started school to let us know what they did that day, what is expected to be completed at home and she even sends pictures of the kids in her emails showing what they did. A couple of weeks ago, Ellie's babysitter told me that Ellie wanted to work on some school work at her house so she printed out some letters, numbers and her name for her to trace. Yesterday she worked on tracing her uppercase A's and lowercase a's while Hayden did his homework. She did so well too! She pretty perfectly traced the A's with her left hand, then after they were traced, she colored them in with a variety of different colored crayons. :)

Today we decided to get out one of the activity baggies that my friend Heather gave me last week for Ellie to work on while Hayden did HIS homework. She glued little colored tissue papers on a square piece of wax paper. We hung her finished project in the window and it has a "stained glass window" effect when the light shines through. These projects that Heather gave me are going to be the perfect things for the girls to do when Hayden does his homework each day.
Jordyn enjoyed the bottle of rice that was filled with Hidden treasures while the other two worked on their projects! Something for everyone and a little peace and quiet for mommy. :)

Jelly Smiles :)

Ellie very much enjoyed her homemade blackberry jam with her toast this morning. She looked so sweet this morning, so I snapped a couple of shots of her with her Jelly filled grin before washing up!

Tahoe

When Samantha called on Friday night to invite us to her cabin in Tahoe, there's no way we could pass it up! Not only that, but she had invited Alis' Family and Lupita and her husband too. These girls are the girls I've been friends with FOREVER. Samantha and I have been friends since the 4th grade, and Alis and Lupita since we were 14. We rarely get together anymore with all of us at once AND our families too, so it was a fun weekend.

Here's a couple of pictures of the cabin:
We spent the night at the cabin on Saturday, and went to Tahoe City on Sunday and spent the afternoon at the lake. Saturday night, we stayed up most of the night (well until 3:30am since Lupita insisted we keep playing until SHE could win a round) games like boggle and another game that I cannot remember what it's called. The kids had so much fun playing with each other and I just love seeing our KIDS be friends with one another.
The boys had fun riding their bikes down the driveway and around the loop on SaturdayMy Girls ready to go to Tahoe City Ellie read Pinkalicious to Edgar and Lupita (the girl is obsessed with this book!)Having Lunch at the beach/parkThe kids had Edgar and Lupita spinning them around until they about fell over themselves!Obee's always a good sport and went pretty far into the lake with all the kids, fully clothed and with all their tennis shoes on! It was very rocky and took a little convincing to get Hayden in there with his tennis shoes still on. Samantha and Alis' daughter Izzy Hanging out on the rocks while the rest were swimming

Up, Up and Away!

Aleanea reminded us that the balloon races in Reno were going to be going on this past weekend and I had said that we really wanted to take the kids to see it. We asked my Aunt Tonya if we could stay at their house on Saturday night and they were so sweet and said we could. They set up their travel trailer for us to stay the night in, which was SO nice of them! It was great not having to worry about waking them up when we got up at 3:30am to go see the balloons, and it was fun to have a night to get to visit with them too. We don't see each other often enough! Everytime I see my cousins they look like a different person and have grown so much taller, I swear! My kids adore my cousins and had so much fun playing with Gianna Saturday night. I can't believe we didn't get any pictures with them. :(

Tired Families watching the balloons light up at 4:30am!This was our favorite part of the day. They had a bunch of balloons blown up and before they took off and the sun came up, they put on a show lighting up the balloons to music. It was so beautiful! This was Hayden's favorite balloon! He's STILL talking about the eagle balloon!Obee bought the kids some light up glowstick type swords and they had so much fun playing with them. Here's Hayden admiring the balloons, sword in hand. Aleanea's little guy, Parker enjoyed the swords too. I just love this picture of him, because it's so "him" if that makes sense!
As we were leaving, they were setting up a giant ladybug and nemo balloon. The kids got to go right up to it and touch it and see how they blow up. When I was taking this picture, the balloon was blowing up so much that it almost went on top of Ellie! I had to put down the camera and RUN to move her out of the way, or she would have been squished under it! Lil' Miss Jordyn fell asleep right when we got there and didn't wake up until 4 hours later when we were getting back in the car to leave! We couldn't believe that she missed the whole thing! When she woke up and saw the balloons in the air from the car, she just looked at us like, "What's the big deal?"
